About Me
all you need to know about solar powered homes

From the minute I toured my house for the first time, I knew that I would be making many changes to the way it was set up. The fact that the house is on top of a big hill with limitless sunlight gave me the idea to install a solar power system for the entire house. I started digging and researching everything that it would take to go completely solar powered for my home. My blog contains all of the facts and information that I compiled over the year that I took to learn all that I could about utilizing the sun to power my home.

If you suspect that you have mold growing in your home, you need to find the problem and get it removed as soon as possible. This is particularly true if someone in the home suffers from asthma, allergies, or other breathing-related health issues. Mold can exacerbate those conditions. Once you get rid of the mold, you'll need to take steps to prevent it from making a return appearance. Here are three steps you should take to get rid of the mold and keep it away.

Locate the Source

Mold has a way of letting you know it's around even if you can't see it right away. The musty odor you smell when mold spores are released into the air is a dead giveaway. If you can't see the mold, follow the odor until you locate the source. As soon as you find the source, you'll need to determine the cause of the mold growth.

Repair the Cause

Excess moisture is one of the main causes of residential mold growth. Moisture problems inside your home can be caused by things like leaky water pipes, or improperly ventilated laundry rooms. As soon as you've located the cause of the mold, you'll need to repair the problem. If the problem is an improperly ventilated laundry room, you can fix the problem by installing a fan or replacing the dryer duct. Damaged dryer duct can allow moisture to build up in the laundry room. Removing the cause of the mold growth will help prevent the problem from returning.

Abate the Problem

If you've located a small area of mold, you can take care of the problem yourself by using a cleaning solution comprised of bleach and water. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts water and chlorine bleach. Spray the mold growth with the solution and allow it soak in for about 15 minutes. Scrub the area with a clean sponge and repeat the process. Allow the area to air-dry.

If the problem is more severe, you'll need to contact a professional mold abatement company (such as ENVIROTECH Inc). This is particularly important if the mold is growing inside the walls of your home. A mold abatement company will have the necessary equipment to eradicate the problem and prevent the mold from returning.

If you have mold growing in your home, you need to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Use the steps provided here to safely get rid of the mold.
